We, The Vehicles

Maritime

We, The Vehicles (2006)

Interviewing Davey Von Bohlen of The Promise Ring in the early 2000s, I recall him saying they nearly went with the name In English before deciding on Maritime. Granted that both names are quite intriguing, it does beg the question of “What is in a name?” And it also begs the question, “Do band names even matter?” No matter the answer, I have always liked the name Maritime. Perhaps because it reminds of the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island) in Canada or that it also could be confused as merry time(s). Who does not want to have more of those?  We, The Vehicles came out in 2006 and I have not revisited it since at least 2010. Listening to the CD again in mid 2026, I am reminded of how much I enjoy this band and how prolific Von Bohlen is.

It is not available at their Bandcamp, but you can check out some of their other releases there.
